Built for families who play outside

Our story

Hi, we're Caitland and Kyle.

Wild Sprout grew from our experience creating an outdoor, adventure-filled childhood for our daughter. We're not childhood development experts, and we haven't climbed Mount Everest. But we have spent over 1,800 hours outside with our daughter during her second year of life.

Along the way, we've faced the real challenges that come with getting outside as a family, and we've seen firsthand how time in nature helps kids become more capable, creative, and resilient.

Why we do it

Wild Sprout exists because outdoor childhoods matter.

Research consistently shows that time in nature supports stronger creativity, resilience, and overall wellbeing. Yet today, the average child spends less time outside than ever before.

We're building a registry and marketplace for parents who want to give their kids the kind of childhood that happens beyond walls and screens. Everything we feature is either something we've used ourselves or carefully selected for its quality, durability, and real-world usefulness.

Your turn

Jump in and help shape an environment for your little loved ones to thrive with nature.

Start a registry, explore the marketplace, read our blog, and join a community of families raising nature-connected kids.

And remember: you don't need gear to create a magical outdoor childhood. The most important ingredient can't be bought—it's your commitment to getting outside.

Our principles

1. Outside first

We believe childhood happens best outdoors. Everything we create or recommend should make it easier, more inviting, or more rewarding for families to get outside, more often, and for longer.

2. Kids are capable

We trust children to do hard things. We favor products and ideas that encourage independence, problem-solving, and confidence, not ones that over-engineer or limit exploration.

3. Simple beats complicated

If it's fussy, fragile, or rarely used, it doesn't belong. We prioritize gear that's intuitive, versatile, and easy to bring along.

4. Built to last

We recommend fewer, better things. Durability matters. Not just for your family, but for the planet. Products should hold up to real use, weather, and time.

5. Tested in real life

We don't recommend anything we wouldn't use ourselves. Every product is either personally tested or carefully chosen with real outdoor family use in mind.

6. Nature over stuff

Gear is helpful, but it's not the point. We believe the best outdoor experiences come from time, curiosity, and consistency, not buying more things.

7. Progress over perfection

You don't need to be extreme to raise outdoor kids. A walk, a muddy afternoon, or a short hike counts. We meet families where they are and help them build from there.

8. Honest, always

No hype, no fluff. If something isn't worth it, we won't recommend it. Trust matters more than trends.

9. For real families

Our recommendations are made with real life in mind: busy schedules, tight budgets, unpredictable kids. If it doesn't work in the real world, it doesn't work.

10. Leave it better

We encourage respect for nature in everything we do, through the products we choose and the habits we promote.
